In addition to temperature, humidity, pressure and wind profiles, other in-situ measurements in the atmosphere provide valuable information for researchers and the climatological community. The Vaisala DigiCORA® Sounding System with the Vaisala Radiosonde RS92 can be used to fly third party atmospheric in-situ research instruments and transfer the data for further analysis, together with the radiosonde information on height, wind, ambient temperature and humidity conditions. The ground equipment transfers the data originating from in-situ instruments in a readable ASCII format, as a .txt file.

The Vaisala Radiosonde RS92-SGP has a synchronous serial interface that reads data from an in-situ instrument so that it can be transferred in digital format. The dedicated user interface of the Vaisala DigiCORA® Sounding System software version 3.64 allows for setting up and following the in-situ instruments. These features allow you to build suitable interfacing for a third party sensor to be used with the Vaisala Radiosonde RS92-SGP and Vaisala DigiCORA® Sounding System.

Vaisala encourages all in-situ measuring device manufacturers to build interfaces to the Vaisala RS92. Detailed technical information including message protocol necessary to build a suitable interface for using in-situ instruments with the Vaisala Radiosonde RS92 and the Vaisala DigiCORA® Sounding System is available per request via Vaisala sales contact.
